PALM BEACH PSYCHOTHERAPY

When Everything Looks Fine, But Doesn’t Feel That Way
Anxiety and Depression Therapy for Adults in Boca Raton, Florida
You are functioning. You are showing up. But something feels unsettled beneath the surface. Therapy helps you understand what is driving that feeling and begin to shift it in a way that actually lasts.
Anxiety doesn't always look dramatic and
depression doesn't always look like you can't get out of bed.
For many adults 40 and older, anxiety and depression show up quietly. You are functioning. You are responsible. You are meeting obligations. But inside, something feels unsettled.
You may notice it in small ways at first. A sense of tension that does not fully go away. A heaviness that is difficult to name. A feeling that you are carrying more than you let others see.
It might look like:
-
Restless or tense without knowing why
-
Emotionally flat or disconnected
-
Easily overwhelmed
-
Irritable in ways that surprise you
-
Tired of carrying more than you show
If you are here, it may be because pushing through is no longer working.

When Anxiety Is Constant Background Noise
Some anxiety is situational.
Other anxiety becomes persistent.
It may attach itself to relationships, decisions, health, or the future. You may find yourself replaying conversations, anticipating problems, or bracing for something that has not happened.
You might think, “I should be able to handle this.”
That thought often increases the pressure.
In therapy, we slow this down. We look at what is driving the anxiety beneath the surface and help your nervous system recalibrate so you are not living in constant readiness.
When Depression Feels Subtle but Heavy
Depression is not always dramatic sadness.
Sometimes it feels like:
-
A loss of motivation
-
A muted sense of joy
-
A heaviness that lingers
-
A sense that life feels flatter than it once did
Midlife can bring accumulated stress, unresolved grief, or shifts in identity that quietly change how you experience yourself.
Therapy offers a contained space to understand what is contributing to that heaviness and to begin shifting it.

There Isn't Always a Tipping Point
Sometimes there's a clear before and after. But just as often it's quieter than that. A series of hard years. Patterns that stuck around longer than they should have. A slow drift from the version of yourself you used to recognize.
Anxiety and depression often show up long after the thing that started it all. More often than not, they're signals that something finally needs attention.
Adults come to my Boca Raton practice navigating things like:
-
Relationship strain or betrayal
-
Career transitions
-
Shifting family roles
-
A quiet identity shift they haven't quite named yet
We work through these things thoughtfully and without urgency. The goal isn't quick answers. It's clarity and a better understanding of what's actually been building.
My Approach for Anxiety and Depression
My work is structured, but it follows your lead.
Some sessions focus on exploring the patterns and beliefs that feed anxiety or keep mood low. Others go deeper, and when emotional intensity around certain experiences is still high, I may bring in EMDR to help move through what conversation alone doesn't quite reach.
Not everyone needs that, and we figure out together what fits. What I've found over the years is that most people don't need more intensity — they need consistency. Less drama, more steadiness.
People often tell me that somewhere along the way they started feeling clearer, more grounded, less reactive. That's usually how it happens. Gradually, and then all at once.

Who I Specialize in Working With
Most of the adults I work with are in their 40s, 50s, and beyond.
At this point in life, anxiety and depression don't show up in a vacuum. There are decades of history, relationships with real stakes, and decisions that actually matter. You're not in a place where a breathing exercise and a reframe is going to cut it.
What most people are looking for at this stage isn't a toolkit. It's perspective. A clearer sense of what's actually going on and what to do about it.
That's what this work is for.
