PALM BEACH PSYCHOTHERAPY

Hi, I'm Lisa.
I have been practicing as a licensed mental health counselor for over twenty years. I am also a Boca Raton native. I attended Boca Christian, Boca Raton High School, and Palm Beach Atlantic before earning my Master’s degree in Mental Health from Georgia State University in 1991.
Over the years, my training has continued to deepen. I am trained in EMDR and incorporate approaches informed by attachment theory, cognitive therapy, solution-focused therapy, hypnotherapy, and spiritual counseling. Each client’s needs are different. My role is not to apply one method to everyone, but to use the right tools thoughtfully and intentionally.
EMDR is a central part of my work, particularly with adults who feel stuck despite insight. But it is not the only approach I use. Therapy is collaborative and tailored to what you need.

Why This Work Feels Different
After more than two decades in practice, I have learned that transformation does not come from intensity. It comes from steadiness.
I believe deeply in the therapist-client relationship as the foundation for meaningful change. When you feel safe, heard, and respected, the work unfolds differently.
As a married woman and mother of three grown children, I understand the layered complexity of midlife decisions. I understand the weight of relationships, responsibility, and identity. That lived experience informs how I sit with clients navigating anxiety, grief, betrayal, and life transitions.
You do not need to perform in this space. You do not need to impress me. You simply need to show up honestly.

My Approach to Therapy
My approach is thoughtful, structured, and grounded.
Some sessions may focus on EMDR to reduce emotional intensity around specific memories or beliefs. Other sessions may involve exploring patterns, relationships, or current stressors through conversation.
I do not rush the process. I also do not believe in keeping people in therapy longer than necessary. The goal is clarity, steadiness, and forward movement.
Many of the adults who work with me have tried therapy before. They come because they are ready for something deeper, something that reaches beyond insight alone.
Outside the Therapy Room
I value discipline and resilience in my own life. As a Super Spartan athlete, I understand the importance of training, persistence, and gradual progress. Change does not happen all at once. It happens through consistent, intentional effort.
I also have a deep appreciation for nature and art. These influences shape how I view growth. Healing is not about becoming someone new. It is about uncovering what has always been there and allowing it to emerge more clearly.
